DETERMINATION OF MATERIAL MOISTURE
The material moisture content of products can be determined by different methods. As reference methods, thermo-gravimetric methods (weighing- drying) and the Karl Fischer titration are often used. Both methods are established, but require trained staff and clean work. For laboratory applications for the determination of material moisture in plastics, we favor the calcium hydride method. It is easy to use and requires no calibration because it is an absolute measurement.
For the application in the process, we prefer to determine the compensating humidity. The relation to the material moisture is produced by the
formation of sorption isotherms or simple comparative measurements.
We have developed a new device for the determination of the
material moisture in fluidized beds.
